Features of Imam al-Safadi’s Maqasidi Exegesis as Reflected in His Commentary "Kashf al-Asrar wa-Hatik al-Astār"

Abstract

This research paper aims to highlight the features of Imam al-Safadi’s (may Allah have mercy on him) maqasidi exegesis through his valuable work “Kashf al-Asrar wa-Hatik al-Astār،” which is considered one of the recently authenticated exegeses.

Several conclusions were reached، most notably: that the most important features of Imam al-Safadi’s maqasidi exegesis are evident in his articulation of the general objectives of the Holy Qur’an and his consistency in explaining them، as well as in his mention of the specific objectives of the Holy Qur’an related to a particular topic or field and his meticulous analysis of their interpretation. Likewise، in his clarification of the detailed and partial objectives of certain Quranic verses and his elaboration on their reasons and purposes، and in his explanation of the objectives of certain Quranic words and expressions with linguistic weight and profound meaning.
