Abstract

Since Imam al-Tirmidhi was among the most prominent hadith scholars concerned with the jurisprudence of hadith in his Jami' (collection of hadiths), and with clarifying the schools of thought of scholars and the practices followed, his Jami' was chosen for this study. This was to demonstrate the features of his jurisprudence of hadith, including his preferred rulings, interpretations, deductions, and other benefits that made his book a comprehensive work on hadith, jurisprudence, and the defects of hadiths. Thus, it truly lived up to its name, "al-Jami'" (the Comprehensive). The research is divided into an introduction, four sections, and a conclusion. The first section provides a brief biography of Imam al-Tirmidhi. The second section introduces his book, "al-Jami'".Since Imam al-Tirmidhi was among the most prominent hadith scholars concerned with the jurisprudence of hadith in his Jami' (collection of hadiths), and with clarifying the schools of thought of scholars and the practices followed, his Jami' was chosen for this study.
